Welcome to the web site of the Guernsey Optimist Flotilla.
The Flotilla was founded in 1999 by members of the Guernsey
Yacht Club, and by the end of that year had 13 competitive Optimists.
Today the Flotilla has 33 modern Optimists and a number of older
or wooden boats used as basic trainers.
The Guernsey Sailing Trust, which is the sailing school on the island, has 12 Optilenes. The Flotilla is divided into Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper Fleets for local racing purposes, and there is a large group of 4 to 8 year olds called Pirates, who sail on the Model Yacht Pond in St Peter Port. Each year the Flotilla holds an Open Meeting during the late May bank holiday weekend. In addition we hold a triangular match each year against the Jersey and St Malo (France) flotillas. Casual visitors to the Guernsey Yacht Club are welcome to join in our activities. Flotilla Members January 2005 - the latest membership list.
